Wellington: English edition

I have to say I like Welly. It's difficult to say why you like some cities more than others, but Welly is a place where I would like to stay longer. I think I'll try to find a job here at some point, after I have travelled enough!

I've been here for three days. I stayed the two first nights in a hostel which was full of German teenagers. I stayed in the Harry Potter dorm (!!!) with four guys and one girl, and the room smelled like AXE. Too much AXE. Also, there was a party going on all the time and the rooms were really cold, so now I have moved to another hostel, which is cosy and warm. And it doesn't smell like AXE.

Yesterday I went to Te Papa museum. Both Lonely Planet and G said it's a good place to visit, and I have no reason not to believe them. (I'm happy I bought LP, it has so detailed information). I ended up spending five hours there, and it wasn't enough to see it all. It's a big place, six floors full of interesting information. It's the museum of NZ, so now I know pretty much everything about the country :) Kysykaa multa ihan mita vaan, vastaan ihan mita vaan! That sentence doesn't work in English, does it? Apologies to my international audience, but some things lose their meaning when they are translated.

Today I've been out almost all day. I was in an internet cafe (they have 24/7 net cafes here) and the fire alarm went off. I saw kiwi firemen (or are they called firefighters nowadays? You have to be politically correct...) in action! It was a false alarm, so after standing outside of the cafe for ten minutes or so, we got to go back inside. That's the explanation for the picture in the previous posting, if you were wondering.

I'm staying here for two more nights and then I'll continue to the east coast. I have to figure out how to get there, because I have only three more travel hours left on the bus pass. I don't know whether I should top it up or buy individual bus tickets. If I'm lucky, someone will be going there by car and I can get a ride.
