Squash in Chch

In the picture you can see my new squash club! It's simply been named "Christchurch Squash Club", and yes, it's the one where the World Masters Championships take place in October.

I went to the club today for the first time. It was club night, and I thought it would be the right time to go and have a look around. That's what I did in Stuttgart, and because it worked out really well there, I decided to give it a shot here too.

It turns out, that the club is really nice. They have five courts with a glass back wall, and even though I don't have any equipment yet, I couldn't resist trying the courts with a racket I borrowed from one of the members. I liked the club; the courts are good and the people there were very welcoming! I of course joined the club and will start playing again! Sami, who's moving to Finland with Enni for the summer, has sent me his racket and squash bag from Auckland, and I should get them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Then I'm all set and ready to make the kiwis sniff the corners :)

For those of you who are coming here to take part in the tournament I'd like to give a couple useful links: the first one is the club's homepage (http://www.christchurchsquash.co.nz), which I hope they update soon. Because they have only five courts, matches are also being played at two other clubs that are a bit further away from the city centre. The official web page for the tournament is http://www.worldmasterssquash.com, and there's already a list of entrants, so you can check who'll be playing in the same age group as you! Most of the entrants at the moment are from NZ and Oz, but there were quite a few Finns too, amongst them Jussi and Pepe! I'm looking forward to meet you here, and I promise to send you information about the golf courses in Chch! There seems to be many, I can tell you that much!

Having been here in NZ for five months I can only recommend it as a travel destination, and being able to combine squash and travel should be enough reason to book a ticket! (Should I get a job in marketing??)
